Young Socialists - Jusos

  

As Jusos (abbreviation of JungsozialistInnen, i.e. young socialists), we are more than the youth organisation of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). It is our main aim to promote the values of democratic socialism and to represent the interests of the young generation in our society. Our activities are not limited to the SPD. We want to forge relationships between social democracy and social movements who fight for similar ideals. As Germany itself, Jusos have a federal roof; their sources of power, influence and action bases are the twenty regional organisations. The most important work is done in local clubs where young people - almost 80.000 altogether - get together for political discussions and activities. Decisions on national level are taken at the annual congress which brings hundreds of comrades together. On the international level, our cooperation with our comrades from our international umbrella organisation IUSY and its European counterpart ECOSY is of central importance to us.

International Union of Socialist Youth - IUSY

  

IUSY is made up of 143 socialist, social democratic and labour youth organisations from 100 countries all over the world. IUSY was founded over 90 years ago, on 24 August 1907. During the two World Wars its activities were suspended. IUSY was re-established under its current name on 30 September 1946. The goal of our International is to put into practice and defend the ideals of democratic socialism.

We fight for

Freedom and human rights - so that every individual, woman and man, can have full political rights without being discriminated against on the basis of class, caste, gender, religion or race.

Equality - against any form of discrimination among individuals. For social justice. For equality between the genders, for equal opportunities and equal access to knowledge.

Democracy - based on the principles of freedom and equality, against authoritarianism, populism and dictatorship.

The right to self-determination - to liberty and freedom of expression of all the peoples.

Universal solidarity - because we believe in the possibility of collective action for the liberation of individuals.

Political solutions to problems - because we believe in the ability of human beings to change the world.

Socialist Youth of Germany - The Falken

  

The "Sozialistische Jugend Deutschlands - Die Falken" (Socialist Youth of Germany - The Falcons) is a voluntary organization of children and young people. Our work is based on self-organised groups, camps, seminars and international delegations. We arrange teamwork in the suburbs, camps and spare time activities, get-togethers and rock festivals, political seminars and other activities. Children and young people spend their spare time with us and conceive their own political ideas with one another.

Politics are an important aspect of the "Falken" and strongly influence our interests and demands. We oppose others trying to make up our mind for us, we detest intolerance as a policy which maltreats human rights.
